Rebecca Davies – Staff Governor
I started teaching in a small, three class village school near Salisbury in 1989 and moved to Cherry Orchard in 1993. During this time I have had many, and varying, responsibilities from SENCo to Acting Deputy. My son attended Cherry Orchard - many years ago though!
I currently do PPA cover in Year 1 and 2 for two days a week and have three days management time as Phase Leader for KS1.
I am passionate about our 'Learning without Limits' ethos and helping children become confident, enthusiastic life-long learners.
Louise Jones – Co-opted Governor
I’m the newest Governor, only joining in July 2016. My children have now all left education, but I wanted to give something back to the community and am looking forward to learning more about Cherry Orchard.
David Long – Co-opted Governor
I started as a Governor at Cherry Orchard in January 2015 but have previously been a Governor at the High School that I worked at when I lived in Northumberland. I work as a Data Manager in a Secondary School in Birmingham now and am keen to use my knowledge to help the Governing Body understand how teaching and learning is progressing through School. Having recently moved to Worcester I am still learning about the local area, but have enjoyed my time so far.
Steve Mackay - Local Authority Governor
Having been elected as the County Councillor for St Peter's Division, I was co-opted to the Governing Body as a Local Authority Governor. As a retired Police Officer with grown up children, I'm looking forward to working with the staff, attempting to ensure all children's needs are met.
Gaynor McClarey – Parent Governor
I was elected as Governor in March 2015. My eldest child has just left Cherry Orchard and my youngest is still here. I have been a secondary teacher for over 20 years and currently teach part-time to balance life with being a Mum. I know what is expected after primary school and am keen to offer support in ensuring all the children develop the skills they need to succeed while also enjoying coming to school.
Ivan McDouall - Co-opted Governor
Ever since my son started at Cherry Orchard in September 2016, I have been keen to explore the opportunity of working with, and helping, the school and as such was co-opted on to the Governing Body in January 2018. My background is in education - mainly in post 16 provision and the cultural sector - and I am keen to lend this experience to supporting the school and Mr Painter's team. I am currently employed at Heart of Worcestershire College as Customer Services Manager, looking after cross College Student Support Services and also corporate functions such as the College nurseries and hair salons. As a local resident I am aware of the importance of Cherry Orchard within the local community and again, am keen to support the continued development of these relationships.
Rachael Oakley – Co-opted Governor
I had no prior association with Cherry Orchard, but wanted to become a Primary School Governor as I am keen to volunteer my time by helping the local community and seeing the positive contribution that I can have. I am a qualified careers advisor and currently work supporting early years providers and schools across the county to access training and conferences.
Mike Painter – Headteacher
I joined Cherry Orchard in January 2015 after being a Headteacher elsewhere in Worcester for 7 years. I am excited at the thought of working in such a progressive and welcoming School and value the support and challenge that the Governing Body offers me in my role.
Andie Ridley – Co-opted Governor
I became a Governor around 9 years ago when my son was in School and have seen many positive changes in that time. I am an Accountant and own and manage Cherry Orchard Pre-School. This provides some understanding of the early years structure and the challenges that Schools face when the children start each September.
I really enjoy baking and have a passion for food, so it was very exciting when the school kitchen was completed a few years ago.
Nina Stone - Staff Governor
I joined Cherry Orchard as Phase 3 Leader in 2017. As well as my Phase Leader role I teach 2 days a week in years 5 and 6. I am also a licensed Thrive Practitioner and work with children who are on our Thrive program.
I am passionate about educational research and the mental health and wellbeing of both staff and pupils.
Andrea Taylor - Co-opted Governor

Jo Weston – Co-opted Governor
I’ve been a Governor for over 10 years, working with numerous people who all give their time freely to enhance the provision for all of the children and staff. I work part time for Worcestershire County Council working with groups of Councillors who examine Council services, but have previously been involved in sales, marketing and research.
I thoroughly enjoy working with everyone at Cherry Orchard and hope to continue this working relationship for as long as I can make a positive contribution.
Jo Williams – Parent Governor
I’ve been a Governor for 5 years and now have just one child in School as my eldest has moved on to High School. I work as a Pre-School Assistant at Cherry Orchard Pre-School and my interests are Curriculum and Pastoral issues.
